UC Davis Lower Yuba Private Waters – March 15 and 16, 2025
Mt Tamalpais Flyfishers has been able to acquire this weekend of at the UC Davis Private Waters of the Yuba River on Scott Forbes Road, Browns Valley, CA. Our club is lucky enough to procure this weekend of fishing on the “Jewel of the Lower Yuba River”-- you won’t be disappointed.
What makes this coveted spot the ‘Jewel-of-the-Yuba’?
- · Low pressure for one thing…The area is private on weekends!
- · Multiple river conditions; e.g. you find wide open runs, pocket water, riffles, eddies, tail-outs and deep pools.
- · Come ready for dry fly, nymphing (indicator & not), Euro style and swinging streamers, you’ll find water to support whatever the river conditions are ripe for.
- · The area supports a diversified & healthy riparian zone up and down this unique watershed that compliments vigorous insect hatches. Camping is now allowed for overnight stay!
For Mt Tam Flyfishers Anglers:
· The week before your reservation I will email you the gate code. You are free to share it with any guests during the weekend, but the code will expire on Sunday night. We encourage closing the gate behind you or you may have unwanted visitors wanting to join you.
· You can fish dawn until dusk on Saturday and Sunday. The max is about 10 fishing on the river each day.
· you can arrive after 5:00 on Friday and stay through Sunday.
· 12 trucks with trailers could fit the camping area. Use our gravel parking area and you are free to park however you would like.
· We are encouraging self-contained because we do not have water available, but we do have a porta potty and a covered pavilion. Anyone wanting to tent camp will need to bring their own water.
· We have added a gas fire pit that is available so make sure to bring your chairs. Wood burning fires are not allowed.
· Only California Fishing Regs apply, no additional regulations from the UC.
· There will be a Liability Waiver to complete just listing each participant for each day.
