MTFF is hosting a steelhead trip to the renowned Trinity River on November 7 and 8. This is prime time for the steelhead run and we invite you to join fellow club members for this event. If you have been thinking about steelhead fishing, this outing should get you on the water!

We have reserved 3 rooms at the Indian Creek Lodge for November 6 and 7, and we are wait listed for another room. Indian Creek Lodge has been "steelhead central" for decades. Rooms are not luxurious, but they are clean and hospitable. The lodge is located on the river and you can cast for steelies from the back yard. This year the lodge has opened a full service cafe--an amenity long needed. The chef is skilled and creative and the cafe is open early for breakfast and late at night for dinner.

The room charges are payable by you, but we have negotiated a good rate of $92 per night--especially attractive when shared with a club roommate. The rooms have a king-size bed and a full length cot--it will be up to you and your roomie to figure out who gets what bed...

Since we anticipate more demand than supply, we will have a drawing to determine the 5 members who will get a room and to create a priority wait list in case we obtain the 4th room or if we have a dropout. If you want to enter the drawing, simply reply to this email by 5:00 pm, Tuesday September 22. We will notify winners on September 23.

The Trinity supports both guided drift boat fishing with nymphs and casting steelhead flies on the swing for that famous grab! A good way to approach this might be to fish nymphs on one day and swing the next. Many club members know where to find promising runs, and good maps are available. Guides can be arranged through the lodge or through several fly shops in the Weaverville/Lewiston/Redding area. (Guides and fishing expenses are payable by you--same as the room charges.)

PLEASE NOTE: You don't have to stay at Indian Creek to join your fellow members for this outing. There are several well-known motels up and down the river from Indian Creek and you can easily join friends on the river and enjoy breakfast or dinner at the lodge.

Your host for this trip is Larry Friedman (thanks Larry!). He will be your point of contact after the drawing for any questions or concerns you may have.
